Dr Georgia Rigas, leading author and chairwoman of the Royal Australian College of GPs Obesity Specific Interest Group, said “fat shaming” means people with weight problems are less likely to seek medical health. “Our research showed that the majority of people living with obesity felt that they needed to manage it ‘on their own’.
