Being able to ask for help with weight-loss

It's not easy to speak to your GP about your weight.

A new study found 20% of overweight or obese Australian’s are too uncomfortable to speak to their GP 👩🏼‍⚕️👨🏼‍⚕️ about their weight. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Dr Georgia Rigas, leading author and chairwoman of the Royal Australian College of GPs Obesity Specific Interest Group, said “fat shaming” means people with weight problems are less likely to seek medical health. “Our research showed that the majority of people living with obesity felt that they needed to manage it ‘on their own’. I can’t think of any other chronic progressive disease where a person felt that way.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You and your health are more important than anything else. Asking for help should always be treated with respect and kindness. 💕⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
